Outdoor games we are forgetting

India has a rich history of outdoor games, some of which have been passed down from generation to generation. However, with the advent of technology and modernization, many of these games are now being forgotten. Here are a few outdoor games that we are forgetting in India:


Kho-Kho - Kho-Kho is a popular tag game that originated in India. It is played by two teams, and the objective is for one team to tag all the players on the other team.


Gilli-danda - Gilli-danda is a traditional game that is played with two sticks - a large one called the danda and a smaller one called the gilli. The aim of the game is to hit the gilli as far as possible using the danda.


Lagori - Lagori, also known as pithu, is a game that is played with a pile of flat stones and a ball. The objective is to knock down the pile of stones with the ball and then rebuild it before the other team can catch the ball.


Kancha - Kancha is a game that is played with small marbles. The objective is to hit the opponent's marbles with your own and collect them.


Pachisi - Pachisi is a board game that is believed to have originated in ancient India. It is played with a board and 16 pieces, and the objective is to move all your pieces to the center of the board before your opponent does.


Kabaddi - Kabaddi is a contact sport that is popular in India. It is played by two teams, and the objective is for a player to tag as many opponents as possible and return to his/her own half of the court without getting caught.


Chowka Bara - Chowka Bara is a traditional board game that is played with cowrie shells. The objective is to move all your pieces around the board and reach the center before your opponents do.


Kite flying - Kite flying is a popular outdoor activity in India, especially during festivals like Makar Sankranti. The objective is to cut down the opponent's kite while keeping your own kite flying.


These are just a few examples of the many outdoor games that we are forgetting in India. It is important to preserve our cultural heritage and promote these games to the younger generation.
